Choosing the Right Ceramic Tile for Your Home

Ceramic Tiles have always been a great design element that adds a delicate and refined look to any space. Tiles can accentuate a wall and make it interesting and is a great alternative as opposed to a regularly painted wall. They can be used on kitchen walls, bathroom walls and floor and as backsplashes. Tiles come in so many shapes, sizes, colours and textures that one is completely spoilt for choice when it comes to picking the right one for their home.

What Aspects of a Ceramic Tile Must be considered to ensure that the Tiles are a Perfect Fit?

Colour: Ceramic tiles come in so many different colours that it’s almost impossible to really narrow down on one. The best way is to figure out what would suit the house and the aesthetic, and rule out others from there.

Texture: Ceramic tile can come with outer coatings like glass, glossy, metallic, rough, smooth etc.

Shapes and Sizes: There can be square, rectangular, circular, any type of polygonal as well. These are just a few of the plethora of shapes available! Tiles also come in many different sizes that would suit the exact aesthetic that one wants.

Ideas for Using Ceramic Tile in Your Home

Kitchen

The kitchen is the heart of the home and must be designed with careful consideration. For the backsplash and kitchen walls, the use of subway tiles would be the best bet. A white or coloured subway tile backsplash would be perfect since it will be a focal point of the kitchen. The important thing is to ensure making the cabinets, countertops and other decor compliments the tile colour. The tiles can also be arranged in many different patterns and more than one coloured tile can be used.

Bathroom

A bathroom wall is just as important as any other wall in the house, hence it must be treated delicately. A beautiful tile dado on bathroom walls would be really interesting as well as different. Since commonly, toilet appliances are white, choosing a darker shade tile like blue, green or grey to perfectly sit below a plastered wall would create a great balance. Since it is generally a wet area, glossy or glass tiles would keep with the overall aesthetic.

Creating accents in a home is important, it draws the eye to it and acts as a focus. I think having a tiled accent wall or having specific accent tiles in between a continuo colour breaks the monotony and piques interest.

Using circular, hexagonal or other curvilinear shaped tiles is a great way to break the rectangularity of the space and provide a sense of organises to it. Abstract curves, flowers, circles are the best type to use these.

Whether it’s for the bathroom or the kitchen or the backsplash, these techniques will definitely brighten up the room. I think ceramic tiles are such an easy way to achieve the aesthetic one has been trying to get. The best part is, it can be done as DIY projects and don’t really need professional assistance. It provides a great opportunity for one to completely personalize their space that really makes the space so elegant and classy.
